How to Sell Your Car in the Philippines
Illustration: prepare your car and documents before selling.
Selling your car? Set a realistic price, then choose a private buyer, a dealer or help from Mobee. Here’s how to get from “for sale” to handing over the keys.
1. Set a realistic price
Compare cars with a similar model, year, variant, mileage and condition. Asking prices are a starting point, not proof of what buyers will pay. Decide your minimum acceptable amount before negotiating.
2. Choose how to sell
- Private sale: You create the listing, answer enquiries and arrange viewings.
- Dealer: You approach dealers directly and compare their offers.
- Mobee: Get help arranging an appraisal and finding dealer offers.
Choose the route that suits you.
3. Prepare your car and documents
Clean the car, take clear photos and be upfront about known faults. Gather your original Official Receipt (OR), Certificate of Registration (CR), valid ID and service records.
Selling a financed car? Ask your lender for a full-settlement statement and document-release requirements.
Car not in your name? Gather the Deeds of Sale linking you to the registered owner. Representing the owner? Confirm signing authority with the buyer and LTO before signing.
4. Agree on the deal and verify payment
Let the buyer inspect the car. Compare what you’ll receive after any loan settlement and agreed costs. Put the price, deductions and payment schedule in writing.
For a bank transfer, check your own account. A screenshot is not proof of payment. Release the car only once the agreed payment conditions are met. [2]
5. Complete handover and ownership transfer

Remove your belongings and paired phone data. Keep copies of the notarized Deed of Sale, payment evidence and signed handover record.
Agree who will handle the LTO transfer, pay the costs and send you confirmation. Check the LTO’s current requirements: handing over the keys does not update the registration. [3]
Let Mobee do the legwork
Skip contacting dealers one by one. Mobee arranges your appraisal, collects dealer offers and guides you through the documents. Our standard service is free for sellers, and you decide whether to accept an offer. [1]
